What are Back Plates?

Back plates can be the area behind the kitchen stove or behind the sink and are frequently referred to as other names such as a back splash. They are used to protect the area from water or grease splashes. Back plates can be a great way to add more flavor to the kitchen and should be complementary to the décor that is already in place as well as functional. For instance, a red and white toile kitchen would benefit from the look of a copper back plate. Blue would be set off with a shiny silver or matte gray plate as well.
